Representing historic faith traditions for more than three decades, the Los Angeles Council of Religious Leaders (LACRL), is an informal alliance of lead representatives of major religious bodies in the Greater Los Angeles area consulting and collaborating in common cause. As leaders of diverse and vibrant faith communities within the larger Los Angeles community, we regularly seek ways in which we can come together in common cause -- to join as part of one beloved community and speak with unity, enriched by diversity, for the good of our city.
We pledge our commitment to leadership and stewardship in the following areas: advocating for comprehensive immigration reform and local care of child refugees; working to eradicate racism together with economic disparities and inequities; collaborating for affordable housing for deserving constituencies including veterans and the homeless mentally ill; investing in employment and empowerment for area youth; engaging regional issues of climate change; and providing opportunities for interfaith prayer, dialogue, and wider civil discourse.
To these ends, the Council sponsors occasional community forums and events. While Council membership itself is by invitation, all people of good will are invited to share in the Council's public gatherings and initiatives.
